Setting Up Email Notifications

Blimey can send you email alerts when your store goes down, comes back up, or when Shopify has platform-wide issues.

Notification types

There are two independent notification toggles:

  1. Uptime Notifications — Alerts when your store goes down or recovers
  2. Shopify Status Notifications — Alerts when Shopify has platform-wide issues

You can enable or disable each one independently from the Settings page.

Who receives notifications

You can configure who gets alert emails:

  • Admin Email — Toggle to include your Shopify admin email address
  • Additional Emails — Add extra email addresses (team members, developers, etc.)

At least one recipient must be configured for notifications to be sent.

Setting up notifications

  1. Go to Settings in the Blimey sidebar
  2. Toggle on Uptime Notifications and/or Shopify Status Notifications
  3. Enable the Admin Email toggle if you want alerts sent to your Shopify admin email
  4. Add any additional email addresses in the extra emails field
  5. Your preferences are saved automatically

Email content

Notification emails include:

  • Downtime alerts — Which domain is down, when it was detected
  • Recovery alerts — Confirmation your store is back online, how long it was down
  • Shopify status alerts — Which Shopify component is affected and the current status
